Product Description
An open measuring cell intended for investigating liquid electrolytes.
This measuring cell has a 1.6 mL platinum crucible as sample container. For smaller sample volumina, please use the TSC 70 Open cell.
Since the cell is open to atmosphere, only non-volatile, non-air- or moisture-sensitive samples can be readily measured.

Detailed Description
The measuring cell TSC 1600 Open consists of the following parts:
  • 1 gold-plated thermo block with integrated Pt100 sensor
  • 1 platinum crucible (Vmin = 1.0 mL, Vmax = 1.2 mL)
  • 1 electrode plug with four separately connectable platinum electrodes (0.25 mm diameter each with a polished front end, isolated by glass)
For the usage of this measuring cell, either a Microcell HC Open or an extension set including a positioning unit for the Microcell HC Closed is required.
Technical Details
The operational conditions and facts are as follows:
  • Vmin = 1.0 mL, Vmax = 1.2 mL
  • Cell materials: platinum crucible (sample container, electrodes), gold-plated copper with nickel interlayer
  • USB plug with integrated Pt100 sensor inside measuring cell
  • Comes with electrode plug: 4 platinum wires of 0.25 mm diameter surrounded by glass, front-end mirror-like polished
  • Temperature range (operation): -40 °C to +100 °C depending on sample amount and dew point
  • Temperature range (storage): +10 °C to +30 °C
Suitable other Products
The measuring cell TSC 1600 Open is compatible with the following products:
The measuring cell TSC 1600 Open has for instance been used for the following applications:
  • Conductivity measurements of ionic liquids and mixtures of lithium salts with glymes by impedance spectroscopy
  • Determination of stability windows of ionic liquids by cyclic voltammetry
The low sample volume is the big advantage in case of both applications. The low vapor pressure of these samples allows for measurements inside a glovebox.
